Mom

This morning I woke up and saw my mom sewing the new curtains in the kitchen, squinting her eyes with her long-sighted glasses on. And when she squints I can see wrinkles forming on her forehead. She keeps saying that she is getting useless and she can barely read or write or do very simple things without the help of her glasses. It makes me sad to watch her grow old. I have asked her before, "Mom, is it sad to watch me grow up and become independent?". She answered, "Yes." We are both sad, just watching each other grow.

I thought about Phillip Toledano's project (www.dayswithmyfather.com) and I know that I want to capture all these precious moments until the day I leave her. So, despite all the awkwardness, I took out my camera and starting taking pictures of her.

"What are you doing?"
"."
"Aha! I know, you're doing a documentary on our house renovation right?"
"Ya."

But the fact is I'm doing a documentary of YOU, mom.
